The Week Ahead – For Week Beginning 1st March 2020

Pack Used: Chrysalis Tarot

Card 1: What I Need to Know:  Kali (XVI The Tower)

Card 2: What I Need to Do:  Bella Rosa (XV The Devil)

Card 3: Where I Need to Go:  Four of Stones:

The cards for this week pull in two of the big “baddies” of Tarot – The Tower and The Devil, but in reality, there are no “bad” cards.  These cards are there to help us avoid pitfalls or mend our bad habits.  We need to embrace these cards!  They’re there for our higher good.

The imagery on the card of Kali is slightly disconcerting, with skulls, claws and lightening!  Kali is a card of intuition and new ways of thinking. She’s known as the card of “creative destruction”.  She’s telling us that What We Need to Know is about making changes which may be large scale and far reaching.  Change is needed because we’ve fallen into bad habits or are stuck in non-fulfilling situations. Kali wants us to take personal responsibility for making sure these changes happen as they’ll bring a range of opportunities with them.  We need to be open minded and develop new ways of thinking.  We may have a sudden epiphany or lesson in humility.  Before we can move onto something new, we need to discard our old ways which are no longer serving us.  If we’re not prepared to take steps to change, we might find that change is foisted on us – and it won’t be welcome!

Bella Rosa is the enigmatic, masked person in carnival dress.  She hides her true nature behind her mask.  Her appearance in this reading tells us that what We Need to Do is practice self-acceptance. Following on from Kali, Bella Rosa suggests that to find fulfillment we need to accept all aspects of ourselves, including our dark side.  The mirror symbolizes introspection and urges us to be true to ourselves, and honest with ourselves. Are we too materialistic? Do we have addictions? Are we self-sabotaging? Are we bound up in an unproductive situation? Now is the time to examine our habits, honestly appraise ourselves and make positive changes.

The Four of Stones shows a bejeweled trunk blocking the path through the archway to the woods.  This card is about choosing something old (stored in the chest), or something new and mysterious (to be found in the forest). As the card telling us Where We Need to Go, it implies the need to make a choice between staying safe with something we’ve potentially outgrown or taking a choice and moving in to the unknown and taking a chance.  This card is cautioning us not to be too focused on material goods, and to pay attention to our spiritual path.  However, it isn’t a choice of one at the expense of another – we need to have a balance between worldly concerns and spiritual matters.

Looking at the three cards as a whole the clear message is to spend time examining your motives and ambitions and discard those that no longer fit you or your situation. Don’t be afraid of striking out on a new path, as long as it’s the path towards your higher good and allows you to be true to yourself.
